about

Crashing Down is a protest song produced and featuring Tommie Sox.

Revolutionary Ratchet is the new concept album from OHENE (producer/artist from Harlem New York). With one part ODE TO THE TRAP and two parts cinematic captures of society, "RR" has a look at the black experience told thru the creative gaze of one of it's talented tenth in the new renaissance of art, culture and visibility.

Tagline: "Not every RAT is a rat"

Concept:
After pissing off a local crime boss, by stealing his girl, fun loving strip club host Mark Skalar is kidnapped and beaten on the side of the Hudson River and left for dead. With no other options, Mark sells his soul to the "Rat King" - a hell possessed under Lord with the power to morph into, as well as, communicate with and control other rats.
Mark is marked with the head, feet and tail of a rat and instantly gains extraordinary rat senses and abilities. To remind him of his debt to the Rat King, Mark (now dubbed "RevRat") must wear this enchanted white gold collar that can only be removed by God or Demon when he repays the Rat King for saving his life, during the year of the rat; by scratching off the list of bad hombres that have wronged the Rat King and his loyal dominions.

Why Use The Rat?
New York is known for pizza rat, city rats, and snitches and OHENE wanted tell a story where he personifies these rats in an urban way. Splinter was a safe character but we never really went into his life story or backstory, and most other characters are mice. What happens when those mice become rats, which they eventually will, and they are not cute anymore but still apart of the everyday experience. It's also commentary on the black experience in America.

Why do I call the album Revolutionary Ratchet?
The right song at the right time can change the world. Words are power. So, the revolution I speak of is not just one of political unrest and violence (even though on key points throughout the record we reference to the acquisition of governmental freedom and justice), but also self reflection, community building, and workforce action. Besides Urban Dictionart's definition of a Ratchet being a gun, or an aggressive hood person a ratchet is a TOOL, allowing one to take steps back to move forward durin the perpetual state of time's seemingly one directional trajectory.

lyrics

White Gun
Black Masks
Green Bills
Red Flags
Blue states
Welfare
We don't got no healthcare
Dow jones
Death rates
Right wings
Left face
Stars all left space
Earth crashes
Neck brace
What do we do with this Karma
What do we do with big Pharma
What do we do with these guns
Except use one
Neighbor seems weak
We abuse em
Price points
Price gouge
I Scream
Lifes loud
We live
Right Now
We die
Go proud
Crash and
Burn it all down

Breonna Taylor
George floyd
Say their names
Fill the void
Revolution
We can't avoid
Fight together
Man and boy
Woman and girl
We have to light up the world
Look at the world unfurl
It's crashing anyway
rich and poor gone clash anyday
target's the target
Life makes sense
target's the humans
We dig up the ruins
And use archaic tools
To dismantle the mantle
handle the handle
Fly it and land too
Twisted like bantu
Plot twist
Raised stakes
Got beef?
Grade A
Life is
So crazed
